I don't know that I would praise Robinson's hook shot as a 92, I rarely have seen him go to it in several games I've watched. The problem is that 2k thinks that's all he was. Robinson is rated on 2k as though he is a powerful, strong force inside that can also shoot. I wish it stopped there, but the offensive side is even worse. No pickpocket is understandable, but not giving interceptor and not rating Robinson higher in steals is absurd. Shaquille O'Neal, who averaged 0.6 steals for his career, is nonsensically rated 20 points higher on the All-Time Lakers. Robinson once averaged as many as 2.3 steals per game and averaged over 1.5 throughout his prime. The steals rating, on the other hand, is utterly pathetic. He is one of the best shot blockers in history, so why is he rated an 88? Why just 3 points higher than Joel Embiid, who currently averages less than half the blocks that Robinson averaged for his career? He is given a Hall of Fame rim protector badge, to be fair, but it still doesn't explain the blocking rating. Robinson once averaged 4.5 blocks a game, and in fact averaged 3.0 blocks a game over the course of a very lengthy career. Personally I'd go maybe 93/94.īut my biggest concern here comes with his block and steal rating. I'm not exactly sure that I would give him a defensive IQ on par with Tim Duncan or Bill Russell, but Robinson was definitely a fantastic help defender so I'm not going to make too much of a fit about this. Robinson is correctly rated as an elite defender on 2k, a 97 in interior defense and a 98 in help defense IQ. That question aside, though, the problem with Robinson is not the level of impact he can have on 2k so much as the limitations in how he has that impact. He's a 96 overall on the all-time roster, although those rosters seem to inflate the ratings of players so I'm not sure if the devs actually think that prime Robinson is a 96 or not. Robinson is rated as a great center on 2k, don't get me wrong. My hope is that this will bring some awareness and maybe even find its way to a 2k dev somewhere. In addition, for players who have already played in the NBA, we’ll have the advantage of being able to look at their NBA 2K21 season-ending ratings, but we won’t rely upon them.I could use countless examples here but out of awareness that this is a reddit post and not a longform essay, I want to talk about one of my all time favorite players and how poor of a job 2K has done of capturing his playing. We’ll also check in on this later in the season to see how close we were. With all these unknowns, we’re going to go through the Laker roster and project each player’s starting rating - we won’t have to project for LeBron and Gasol, since theirs are already publicly known - and their season-ending rating. That leaves more than a dozen players on this Lakers roster who currently have unknown player ratings. 10th launch, including both LeBron and Marc Gasol’s ratings. NBA 2K has been releasing player ratings ahead of the new game’s Sept. What better way to plug this new group together before the season starts to get an idea of how they’ll work together? The Los Angeles Lakers are a new-look squad after revamping their roster to trade for Russell Westbrook. With so many changes, NBA 2K22’s looming release is even more appealing. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have a new team around them, even if the roster is laden with aging veterans. Incoming are Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn, Carmelo Anthony and just about everybody who has played for the Lakers in the last decade. Gone are Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Andre Drummond, Kyle Kuzma, Dennis Schroder.
